Sending & Scheduling Group Notices

Premium Bot Feature

Group notices let your bot send announcements straight to your Second Life group members, no need to log in and send them yourself. You can send a notice right away, schedule one for later (including recurring notices), and review everything you have sent in the past. This guide walks through all three.

Premium Feature

Group notices are a premium bot feature. If you do not see the Send Notice option on your Manage Bot page, check that your bot's subscription includes this feature.

Getting Started

From your bot's Manage Bot page, click the Send Notice button in the left sidebar. This opens the notice window, which has three tabs: Send One Time Notice, Schedule Notices (Beta), and Past Notices.

The Manage Bot page, with the Send Notice button in the left sidebar.

Sending a One Time Notice

Use this tab when you want a notice to go out immediately.

  1. Click Send Notice, then make sure the Send One Time Notice tab is selected.
  2. Under Select Groups, check the box next to each group you want to receive the notice. The panel below the group list updates to show your total recipient count across all selected groups.
  3. Enter a Notice Subject. This is limited to 64 bytes and cannot include emojis or special symbols.
  4. Enter your Notice Message. This is limited to 512 bytes.
  5. Optionally, click Select Attachment to attach an item from your bot's inventory to the notice.
  6. Click Send Notice to deliver it right away.

Important: Daily Message Limit

Second Life restricts bot (Scripted Agent) messages to a maximum of 5,000 individual messages per calendar day. All bots on your account share this same daily aggregate limit, so sending a notice to a large group can use up a big chunk of it. You can see your current usage at the top of the notice window (for example, 717 / 5,000). This resets at midnight Pacific time (SLT).

Scheduling Group Notices (Beta)

The Schedule Notices tab lets you plan notices ahead of time, including notices that repeat on a schedule.

Viewing the Schedule

Click the Schedule Notices (Beta) tab to see a calendar for the current month. Use the arrow buttons to move between months, and click + Schedule New Notice to create one.

  2. Under Select Groups, check the box next to each group you want to receive the notice.
  3. Enter a Notice Subject (64 byte limit, no emojis or special symbols) and a Notice Message (512 byte limit).
  4. Optionally, click Select Attachment to attach an item.
  5. Set the Date and the Time. Times are entered in Pacific time (SLT).
  6. Use the Repeat dropdown if you want the notice to send on a recurring basis, or leave it set to Does not repeat for a one time scheduled send.

Viewing Past Notices

The Past Notices tab keeps a history of everything your bot has sent, whether it went out immediately, was scheduled, or came in through the API.

  1. Click the Past Notices tab.
  2. Use the Status and Source dropdowns to filter the list.
  3. Click Refresh to check for the latest sent notices.
  4. Each entry shows the notice subject, message, the group(s) it went to, the date and time it was sent, and how many recipients it reached.

Tip

Click Show more on a past notice to expand and view the full message text.
